Mrs. Johnson, a fourth grade teacher, promises you that there are still wild horses; she has seen them in Assateague Island!

Check out this link we found: http://www.assateagueisland.com/island_info/assateague_info.htm

I have seen the wild horses last summer on our vacation. We were lucky enough to rent a jeep and drive around while enjoying watching them. We even watched them run on the ocean that was my favorite.
I love taking pictures and bringing them back home so I can write about them in my journal. Thanks for this amazing wonder!

Wonderlead Maria~
Thanks for your comment. I have always wanted to ride horses on the beach! I guess they wouldn't be Wild Horses. Where did you see the wild horses?

Yes there are still wild horses. I know that because me and my mom once went to see some at a place you can adopt them. Mom said: The wild horse and burro adoption program is a program that rounds up and captures wild horses and burros and adopts them out. The animals that are not adopted out are moved to a sanctuary where they can live out their lives.

That's so cool that you got to go see wild horses! Lydia would you rather have a wild horse or a horse you can ride?

Lydia the pictures on the wonders are from Mrs. Caplin's 5th graders. Mrs.Caplin gave me the idea for the Weekly Wonder too! Scroll down to our week #1 wonder for more information.

I visited Assateague Island when I was ten. I saw the wild horses and ponies for myself... what a wonderful sight it was... I had only known horses with saddles and behind fences. Seeing them running all together - free - it was amazing. I was a bit of a wild pony when I was a kid, so I think I was able to relate to them well. ; ) As an adult, I am a bit of a wild horse. By the way, I was JUST listening to the Rolling Stone's "Wild Horses" song with my twin brother, Paul this past weekend on the way to Cape Cod. So many "dots" to connect. : )

Thank you Mr. Reynolds for your comment! The kids will LOVE IT and I hope THEY will reply to you here in the blog!
Your comment really made me think about the horses running free- beautiful and carefree, like summer.
Mr. Frazier and I did have a chuckle thinking about you and your brother signing along to the Rolling Stones as you drive to Cape Cod :-)

Dear Wonderers,

I am happy to let you know that my native country (Romania) does have wild horses (around 3,000) in a region close to the Black Sea (more specifically, in the Danube Delta and Letea forest)! :)

They are the last remaining "wild" (feral) horses living at large on the European continent" so many efforts are made by the Romanian authorities to preserve their number.

Keep wondering, little ones!
