Parent InformationDear Families,
I am so pleased to be your child’s teacher for the 2016-17 school year. Your child, their education, and teaching are among my highest priorities. I have a profound respect for children and education. The world we live in today was created when today’s leaders and community members (like ourselves) were sitting in classrooms. The work I do each day with your child makes an impact not only their future but, also on ours, and our nations. I believe this to my core, and I strive to have this belief reflected in my classroom practice. I have been teaching for twenty-four years. I taught special education for eleven years before accepting a position to teach Kindergarten. Since moving to Kindergarten, I have also taught, second and first grade. First grade is my favorite. The kids are eager to learn and each day is filled with excitement and surprises, just like your favorite holiday! I have both an undergraduate and graduate degree from Ohio Dominican University. My husband, Tim and I are native to Hilliard. We were born in Hilliard and graduated from Hilliard City Schools when there was only one high school! Early in our marriage, we spent four years living in Japan to add diversity and perspective to our lives. Tim and I have two daughters Lexi and Olivia. Both girls graduated from Bradley High School. Lexi is a senior at Ohio State and plans to attend graduate school next year, seeking a graduate degree as a Child Life Specialist. Olivia is a sophomore at Auburn University in Alabama. She is studying both marketing and fashion merchandising. Tim is a cardiovascular perfusionist with the Mount Carmel Health System. I am looking forward to meeting you and your first grader! Please plan to attend Open House on Tuesday, August 16 at 4:30-5:30. Our classroom is room 208. Make a right at the office and our room is the fourth classroom down on the left. Next to getting to know your child and you, reading is the most important thing we will do in first grade. We will begin the year by honoring and getting to know each other as readers. Please ask your first graders to bring a favorite book to open house. Place your name in the book; we will leave them here at school for a week or so. I like to have family photos in the classroom. This is to help your little one ease into the transition. Also, it helps me get to know your child and their family. Please bring a family photo NO LARGER than 4x6 to open house or email it to me [email protected]. Also, if you have purchased school supplies outside of the school order, please bring these with you as well. IMPORTANT
